What sprinkler is best for me?

Sometimes that rain is just not enough to keep your grass from getting brown. As a homeowner or anyone looking to take care of a lawn more times than none, you will need to look into getting a sprinkler system to keep your lawn in the best shape for summer and through the drier months. Here are some systems and how they can help your lawn.

  1. Rotating sprinklers- These systems are great for larger lawns because of their ability to move quickly and evenly distribute water throughout the lawn. They have a two or more arm feature that creates a complete circle when dispersing the water.
  2. Impact sprinklers- Has an adjustable pattern but typically rotates in a circular pattern with a single jet of water. They would be best in the front yard but can also cover larger areas of lawn.
  3. Oscillating sprinklers- A more gentle approach to watering your lawn with a long tube with multiple openings that move back and forth creating a fan-shaped waterfall. This system would do best on a square or rectangular lawn and is recommended for medium lawns or newly seeded areas.
  4. Stationary sprinklers- Great systems for getting water to hard-to-reach areas and are best suited for smaller lawns or sections of lawn that are in need of more water. Come in several different designs that cast water in a single pattern in a fast and precise way.
  5. In-ground systems- Connected to your main water supply the sprinkler heads are set up in spots of the lawn and pop up at designated to reach the entire lawn and give it complete coverage. Highly recommended for the backs and side of houses as well as for landscaping and gardens.
  6. Sprinkler hoses- This system lies along the ground with a low flow rate. This system works best on rectangular areas of lawn and longer strips of lawn.
  7. Traveling sprinklers- Cover a wide area and look like little tractors that move through your lawn dragging a hose behind them. They come in multiple patterns and are recommended for oddly shaped yards and hilly/uneven areas.

With multiple systems on the market, it is best to take your lawn’s needs into consideration and come up with a care plan to be sure that your entire lawn is getting the water it needs to grow healthy and properly.
